Vanity Card #20 – The Day After Valentine’s

My good man Arthur Conan Doyle once wrote wrote:

“Some believe what separates men from animals is our ability to reason. Others say it’s language or romantic love, or opposable thumbs. Living here in this lost world, I’ve come to believe it is more than our biology. What truly makes us human is our unending search, our abiding desire for immortality.”

Let me tell you this, young padawan. There are multiple reasons why we earthlings need a special date that tributes for love and friendship. These two grand gestures of human commitment are the cornerstone of happiness and humanity itself. The Valentine’s day has the magic to bring the best in us into the light, for one special person. It might be love, it might be lust, in the end it’s something that’s yours and yours only in that fragile moment.

It can also be just another night with Netflix, burgers and couple of beers. Sure, life is full of choices. Take your pick, as long as you remember the words that Robin Williams said in Dead Poets Society.

Carpe diem, my friend.
